– Hold on, I think I’ve just found Paradise…!

Those were the exact words that went through my head when I arrived in the small fishing village Jericoacoara, located in the state of Ceará on the north-eastern coast of Brazil. An idyllic place where streets are paved with sand, surrounded by sand dunes and freshwater lagoons, and an endless beach – named by Washington Post Magazine as one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. You’ll probably end up staying longer than planned. In fact, most travellers do.

A gem in the south

I’m on my way to the Spanish coast, southwest in the region of Andalucía, and the road leading there is something quite special. On the final stretch before reaching my destination, it almost feels like I’m driving on water. Only a thin strip of land on each side, separates the fine motorway from the ocean. And in front of me sparkles a real gem of a city – the port city of Cádiz.

Tangier is located on the northwest shore of Morocco, and to many it’s the natural gateway to Africa. Although the city is just a short boat trip from Europe, it’s like stepping into another world. Tarifa with its location has been an important strategic point for conquerors throughout history. Today however, the town is more famous for something completely different, and which attracts thousands of visitors from around the world. Namely surfing.
